Episode Summary:

In this episode of Coaching Revealed, Gabriella Kellerman, author, entrepreneur, start-up executive, and Harvard trained physician with expertise in behavioral and organizational change, wellbeing, and AI is interviewed by IOC Executive Director, Jeff Hull. The two discuss Gabriella’s journey into positive psychology research, which has led to serving on BetterUp’s board and leading the organizations research arm.

As an individual, Gabriella’s passion for human wellbeing has led her down a path focused on behavioral and organizational change. This journey helped bring together Gabriella with Martin Seligman a renowned pioneer in the space of Positive Psychology. Their work together produced the book, Tomorrowmind and the PRISM model.

The PRISM model, includes the concepts of Purpose, Resilience, Innovation, Social Connection, particularly Rapid Rapport, and Mattering. Gabriella and Jeff discuss this model created within Tomorrowmind, and specifically how the concepts build upon each other and allow an individual to thrive and attain the necessary skills to function in constantly changing environments.

Within the framework, today’s episode specifically looks at how individuals can build rapid rapport and reframe automatic assumptions about others, allowing us to combat automatic thinking and categorization into ‘us’ and ‘them’. This concept ties into Gabriella’s current work focused on helping teams and organizations deal with increasing polarization, from within organizations and even on a broader scale with national politics.
